The AFC-2008 Precision Optical Fiber Cleaver was developed to reduce back reflection by cleaving the optical fiber at an angle. The AFC-2008 angled cleaver achieves a cleave of 8 degrees for 125 um singlemode and PM fiber. |

The
fiber is placed in a large groove and set against a scale to give an
accurate cleave length. The tool has a "stapler" like
action. Closing the tool clamps, tensions and bends the fiber. A
diamond blade then gently slices into the fiber at an angle to score
the fiber which cleaves to give an 8 degree end angle. The angle end reduces the back reflection to less than -60dB. Clamping onto the fiber coating or a ferrule or cleaving of different fixed end angles or different fiber diameters can be factory set. | |||||
